In the first splatoon game theres a notebook in the story mode and when you find one of the pages it talks about the anatomy of the inkling which is a simple thing...its a hybrid and talks about how it's just a squid and not a human so no matter what ITS NOT A THEORY if the game literally says that.
bendy uses ink as well and look how he turned out hmm.... he is a pure dennis the menace.

Guys Ik why there’s no red black and white ink
There’s no red ink because it would look like blood and the game wouldn’t be for children who r easily disturbed which is not the point of splatoon
There’s no black and white in because it’s racist and I think splatoon would’ve been banned
And the other reason that there’s no black ink because it’s kind of boring and it would just not fit the theme of the bright splatoon and splatoon 2

i just want to put a few things out here
1. the inklings are made of muscle-like matter
2. splatoon takes place 12000 years after human anihallation
3. the lore in splatoon actually stated that the inklings evolved from squids, so tehres your answer
I thought the plural was “octopi”
Um I know I’m a bit late for this but lore that came out in splatoon one and two say that they are literally made of ink. Also would love to see a game theory on agent 8 or 3
