Hi Doug, my hoya bella needs some intervention as it's not thriving. It arrived in really poor condition, wanting to save it. I've already taken a few cuttings when it first arrived a month ago and I've got it in water but the roots don't seem to be developing. Would you advise putting them in a propagation box with a heat mat and rooting in Sphagnum moss? The weather is starting to change in the uk and i know i'm against the clock for the growing season. I honestly don't think it will last until next year if i leave it as is.

Worst part about it, tracking says it was shipped the 14th, so it's been roaming the world for a while. ::sigh:

Hi. Doug. Do you have any experience dealing with ISC New York? I have a plant shipped from Thailand and it's been sitting there since the 24th. Glad I found your videos. 🙂

Hi Doug, where did you order from?
Also, I’m interested in hearing about how and why you soak them in super thrive before potting? Perhaps I will begin to do so for my hoyas that come in the mail. Thanks

Again, try Quantum orchid, bit of orchid food, distilled or RO water. They really need the humic and fulvic acids..

I detest the coconut husk. Easy and cheap enough for SEA sellers, but deadly to grow as houseplants in. I received one undulata grown this way and I am almost a 100 percent sure the husk was what killed it. You cannot by any means tear it loose without destroying what little roots the plants have, but if faced with this poor choice of a rooting substrate again, I guess losing all roots and regrowing the plant from a cutting would still be the safer choice.

Hi Doug, Did you have to remove the coconut medium before potting or you left it?

Hey Doug, did you pot with the Husks? I received one just like this and also potted with the husk and wasn't sure it that was the best thing to do. Also next time you need someone to record, I volunteer! I will fly to you!

Aww great haul and these hoyas look pretty ok for taking such a long and hard trip!! I hope they are all thriving now!! 😊

I'm still unable to find even some of the "most common" Hoya species, carnosa thrives in our climate, so nurseries only bring that, and I unboxed an order last week (not uploaded yet) eagerly waiting for my Hoya bella, but... well it wasn't included in my order!! Thankfully I wasn't charged, but I was so disappointed...

Anyway, great haul, I'm looking forward to the updates, so καλησπέρα from a new subscriber!!

Great un-boxing! I hate those coconut husk which I think nowadays most of the growers grow in that media since it's very cheap for them. Did you pot them up with that you said?! I tried to remove as much but this very hard to take out! I was thinking about the watering that's why I removed it. They absorb a lot of water. Good luck with them all and keep us updated . The long ones you can may be take cuttings. I had one of mine that I potted up (hoya globolusa), did not do anything for 6 months and was rotting , but just before the tip dries out, I took a cutting, and be hold, I saw it's rooting in the water, so I am very happy! Thanks for sharing.

Hi Doug. Where did you get the pots? They’re perfect! Love the Hoyas! I wished I could visit my home country of the Philippines so I could hunt for some hoyas! Haven’t been home for 12 yrs now. 🇺🇸 🇵🇭

Hey Doug! Awesome order :) Ah Hoya also grows coconuts so they just use the husks as their growing media for hoya! Not sure if you did, but I highly recommend you remove every bit of coconut husk possible because it seems to be too water retentive to be used in the northeast...at least that's been my experience.

Hi Doug! Thank you for sharing this video! I hope your Hoyas do really well for you. They looked so much better after you soaked and planted them. I like the wire trellis's you made. That is a great idea! I think I saw them in the same video you did. You did a great job filming and editing, so no need to worry. Thank you for sharing!

Doug this is a great video! I've been just dying to order from them! Was confused about the Phytosanitary Certificate. Do I buy it in advance or do they furnish it? I'd like to do this before the end of summer. Thanks for sharing!!

I live in St. John's Newfoundland and my order came in 5 days from ah hoya. This was over a holiday weekend. I asked natta for bare root Hoyas and all my Hoya came with just roots and a piece of paper towel wrapped with plastic and an elastic band!

What do you do with your imports in terms of acclimation? My Australis Lisa came in amazing condition and I want to give it its best chance haha.

I envy you. You're very fortunate. Years ago I spent a fortune on a shipment of hoya from Thailand. ( I don't remember the vendor) Took about three weeks to arrive. I was VERY disappointed. Not one plant arrived in good condition. They were all dead or dying and I told myself never again. This video however may have inspired me once more. Thank you

Thank you for making this video! This is very helpful, especially for those of us who are considering ordering plants from AH Hoyas. I love variegated Hoyas and my newest addition is an incrassata ‘Eclipse’’ from Gardino which is a stunner. I have two Australis ‘Lisa’ and one of them was purchased on eBay and sold by a seller based in Europe. The plant arrived in perfect condition. Couldn’t be happier with this purchase. 😊👍
