Propagating 3 Types of Pothos via Water Cuttings (Foolproof Method) 🌱

  • Yayınlanma Tarihi:  7 ay önce
  • Pothos propagation is easy. It's a great plant to start with if you're new to plant propagation in general, because it roots quite easily in water and doesn't require much care throughout the rooting process. You can mix and match different varieties if you'd like to create an interesting, blended-variety pothos pot too. I haven't seen many people do this! In today's video, you're going to learn how to propagate 3 varieties of pothos: Satin, Green Queen, and Marble Queen. Don't worry...the method is the same! LEARN MORE Epic Gardening is much more than a YouTube channel. I have a website with 300+ gardening tutorials as well as a podcast where I release daily gardening tips in five minutes or less. Thank you so much. I tried this with a 12’ Long vine that lost about 1/3 of its leaves. Almost every cutting rooted and I planted them in one pot (about 2 dozen or more). I lost about 4 cuttings in the soil but the cuttings have sprouted so many babies. Literally another dozen babies which I didn’t expect. Sooo happy! Thank you 😊. Oh one more thing I just used shot glasses and wine glasses.

Hi, love your video, so helpful for a newbie houseplant owner. Pothos and Peace Lillies are my absolute favs. I do have a question....of the two propergation stations, which one would you buy more of? The test tube or the bulbs?

When I put cuttings in water, they ROT. I don't know why. I change the water every other day but still have no luck with trying to root pothos. I've even tried putting a drop of bleach in the water, but they still rot. Does anyone know why?

I followed this (almost exactly) but my roots started growing black and after I was gone one weekend the leaves started to look burnt and some were yellowing. Can you give me tips for the best kind of light (is Northeast ok?) for propagating leaf cuttings? Should I keep them further from the window? I was using tap water.. should I try filtered water?

By the way Kevin, I've found Scindapsus pictus propagates really easily in potting compost. Weirdly, I found Ficus benjamina propagates very poorly in compost, but really well in water.

right after i transfer my stems over to water propagation, the leaf tips start going brown and in a day or two the brown keeps going up the leaves. why is this? too much stress from soil to water environment?

So I have like a 100% success rate with Pothos. You mentioned that the tip leaf isn't as good as the middle leaf nodes. However, it seems to me that these each leaf of this plant only spawns 1 new leaf. So my last attempt has been growing for aboout a year and none of them have spawned new leafs. It seems perfectly healthy but never any new leafs. Is that normal?

You can get those 1 to 3 bulb water planter things from Wish dot com for way way less than amazon, if you don't mind waiting a little longer.

This was my first time propagating a plant and I followed this tutorial (with minor adjustments) with 100% success. I'm not sure if these little changes actually affected anything, but with my set up I had all my cuttings in one large vase (I thought it'd help to give the roots room to grow?), placed this in a window that got about 5-4 hours of direct sunlight, changed the water every 2 days, and added plant food to the water (de-chlorinated water). My cuttings had about 3-inch roots and budding leaves in about a week and a half, so now they're happily chilling in their new pot c:

I really don't know why I haven't tried this sooner. I guess I thought I was gonna screw it up, but your video made it look so easy! I've had my 2 pothos for about 2 years now, and they're getting pretty big and lowkey out of control, considering that I've yet to like.... actually groom them lol

When I water my pothos, I place a spoon upside down on the soil, set it in the sink and let the water barely trickle onto the spoon until the soil is completely saturated. I sometimes do this for established plants too.

Super helpful video! I have a question about my golden pothos propagations. The roots on most of mine are black rather than white. I have a few that are white but more of them are black, and I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong! Thanks for your help!

My rescued satin pothos was getting water therapy for a good while. Each new leave is smaller that the last. How do I stop this? The latest leaf is dime size and the next is even smaller!!!! I have it in soil now but not sure if this might be the fix! Also in my propagation experience of pothos the marble queen and satin pothos take a bit longer to root than most of the other varieties.
