Propagating 3 Types of Pothos via Water Cuttings (Foolproof Method) 🌱

  • Yayınlanma Tarihi:  9 ay önce
  • Pothos propagation is easy. It's a great plant to start with if you're new to plant propagation in general, because it roots quite easily in water and doesn't require much care throughout the rooting process. You can mix and match different varieties if you'd like to create an interesting, blended-variety pothos pot too. I haven't seen many people do this! In today's video, you're going to learn how to propagate 3 varieties of pothos: Satin, Green Queen, and Marble Queen. Don't worry...the method is the same! Throw those extra cuttings in water, they will eventually make a bud and grow a leaf for ya, no doubt

i do mine like this and grow half of what i have in water all the time, pothos do well in water for good if you wanted them too,, but silver pothos, are much harder to grow,

btw i planted the "wasted bits" - and got plants out of it. so don't throw those out people! plant them as just stems and still get plants!

My silver pothos roots so slow i moved it directly into the sun at the west, if seen these directly in front of a south west facing window to, not sure if i would do that with normal pothos.

You have to water them avery day!
    They are water plant!
Do not be afraid to water them
They prefer to climb than hanging and lots of water!

Seems that you are more decorative than planting... but anyway...

The ones growing leafs will grow. I've had that happen and I just left it alone for a while longer, now it's part of a pretty pothos.

Seems that the ones with green leaves sprout longer, healthier roots.. Is it because they photosynthesis better?

Does it matter if the part where I've cut the plant from touches the bottom of the glass it's in or does it need to be "floating" in the water?

My boyfriend made me watch this video and I am happy he did because is very helpful, I didn't know they will root if the cuttings are so short and 1 leaf only, great tip, thank you!

What sort of soil do you use? Potting? Top soil? Are you adding anything to it?

Loved the video, dude. I have one simple tip, though: the more variegated a plant is, the less chlorophyll it has (which is what causes them to look light green or have white patches), so they will develop roots and put out new growth at a much slower rate. That's why your marble queen pothos weren't as "successful" at rooting in the same amount of time. They simply needed more time in water to develop the roots and leaves.

Great video! I always struggle with keeping them alive once they root and i put them in soil. I usually try to just re pot them in with the original plant. Would you advice against this?

I rooted a bunch of silver Pothos in water. I transported them to soil maybe 1.5 months ago, roots were maybe 2" long. But the cuttings' leaves are all curled up now and I can't get them to uncurl. How long will it take for them to adapt?

I transplanted three rooted golden pothos cuttings into soil about a month ago. One yellowed and died almost immediately, and the other two are exactly the same as they were when I transplanted them. I haven't noticed any change at all, they're nice and green, and feel like sturdy, hardy leaves. I just don't know what to expect for new growth, having never done this before! I'm a bit concerned that I planted the stems too deep in the pot.

I propagated one of my golden pothos plants a few months ago. All the cuttings rooted, and I transplanted them into the soil when the roots were about an inch long each. But they haven't grown at all in the past month or so. They're not dying, the stems aren't rotting, and the leaves are bright and vibrant. I'm not sure if I did something wrong in the propagation or the planting. I've been giving them indirect light and water about once a week when the top inch of soil is dry, and they've been in a warm environment. Do you have any idea why they're not growing? Anything I can do to encourage them?
